# GitHub

Ask Merlin things like "what's open with the bug label?", "summarise the discussion on #123", "run the tests on main" or "tell the group when a pull request is opened".

## Linking

Open **Apps** on Home, choose **GitHub** and install Merlin's GitHub App on your account or organisation. Pick all repositories or only some; Merlin can only see the ones you pick. Change them any time with **Choose repos**. You can link more than one GitHub account.

## What Merlin can do with GitHub

- Search issues, pull requests and code
- Read an issue or pull request with all its comments
- Comment on an issue or pull request, after you confirm
- List a repository's latest releases
- Download a repository's code to read it or run its tests
- Tell you about new issues, pull requests, releases and pushes

## What Merlin can't do with GitHub

- See repositories you didn't choose when installing the app
- Push code, or open, merge or close pull requests
- Create or close issues
- Comment without your confirmation
- Change repository settings or permissions

## Comments

Merlin can comment on issues and pull requests. You confirm each comment before it's posted.

## Running tests

Merlin can download a repository's code, run its tests and tell you the result.

## Alerts

Merlin can tell you or your group about new issues, pull requests and releases as they happen. See [Automations](https://atmerlin.com/docs/automations).
