Gmail
Search, read, draft and send email with Merlin.
Ask Merlin things like “anything important in my inbox today?”, “find the flight confirmation from last month” or “reply to Sam saying Friday works”.
Linking
Open Apps on Home, choose Gmail and sign in with Google. You can link more than one Gmail account. Merlin searches all of them, and asks which one to send from.
What Merlin can do with Gmail
- Search your email by sender, subject, date or whether it’s unread
- Read whole email threads
- Save drafts in your Gmail, after you confirm
- Send emails and replies, after you confirm
- Tell you when an email from someone or about something arrives
What Merlin can’t do with Gmail
- Send or draft an email without your confirmation
- Delete, archive, label or mark emails as read
- Change your Gmail settings, filters or forwarding
- Show your email to others in a group unless you approve each time
Sending
Before sending an email or saving a draft, Merlin shows who it’s going to and the subject, with Confirm and Cancel buttons. Only you can press them. Replies stay in the same thread.
Email alerts
Ask Merlin to tell you when a certain email arrives, like “tell me when the accountant replies about the tax return”. See Automations.
In groups
Other people in a group can’t use your Gmail unless you share it in that chat’s settings. Even then, they only see an email after you approve it. See Connected apps.
