Connected apps

Linking apps, sharing them in groups, and confirming what Merlin does.

Merlin can use Gmail, Calendar, GitHub, Last.fm and a browser for you. See them all at atmerlin.com/apps.

Linking

Open Apps on Home, choose the app and follow the steps.

You can link several Gmail, Calendar and GitHub accounts, such as a personal one and a work one. Merlin reads from all of them, and asks which one to use before changing anything.

Sharing in groups

Only you can use your apps through Merlin. In each group, you can let other people use one of your apps, at one of these levels:

Setting What others can get
Off Nothing
Group answers only Answers that don’t single anyone out, like “Tuesday 7 to 9 works for all five of you”
Facts about me Yes or no answers, like whether you’re busy at 3pm
My content, with my approval Your emails or events, after you approve each time

Change this in the chat’s settings on Home. The same settings show each time Merlin used your apps in that chat, and who asked.

Confirming

Before Merlin sends an email, adds an event, posts a comment or changes anything else, it shows what it’s about to do with Confirm and Cancel buttons. Only you can press them, even if someone else asked. After ten minutes the request is cancelled.

Unlinking

Unlink an account in its app on Home. Merlin deletes everything it had from that account.

What Merlin can’t do with any app

  • Use an app you haven’t linked, or one you haven’t shared in that chat
  • Change anything without your confirmation
  • Link or unlink apps, or change these settings. Merlin can send you the link to do it yourself.
  • Type passwords or verification codes
