Chats
When Merlin answers, who's in charge of a chat, and who pays.
When Merlin answers
Merlin saves every message in the chats it’s in. It answers:
- every message in a direct message
- in a group, messages that say its name, mention it, or reply to it
It can work on several requests at once.
Owners and trusted people
The person who adds Merlin to a chat is its owner. Anyone in the chat can ask Merlin for things.
The owner can mark people as trusted. Only the owner and trusted people can change what Merlin remembers about the chat. A reminder one of them set up can only be changed or removed by one of them.
Who pays
Everything asked for in a chat counts against the owner’s plan. See Pricing.
When someone without an account asks for something that needs a linked app, Merlin sends them a sign-up link, once. The owner can turn these links off.
Direct messages
Your direct messages with Merlin on every app and on Home are one conversation with one memory. Merlin replies on the app you wrote from.
In your direct messages, Merlin can search every chat you’re in. It only replies to you.
Threads
Merlin replies in the thread you asked in. On Discord, each thread is a separate chat.
Merlin’s messages
Merlin can send messages and files, reply to a specific message, react, and edit or delete its own messages. It can’t edit or delete anyone else’s, and it only posts in the chat it was asked in.
Removing Merlin
The owner can remove Merlin from a chat in that chat’s settings on Home. The chat goes to the archive, where the owner can bring Merlin back or delete the chat.
Anyone can type /forget me in a chat to delete their messages there. See Privacy and data.
